2 Timothy 2 - Ignorance is NOT Bliss

15Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. 16But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness. 17And their word will eat as doth a canker: of whom is Hymenaeus and Philetus; 18Who concerning the truth have erred, saying that the resurrection is past already; and overthrow the faith of some. 19Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity. 20But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some to honour, and some to dishonour. 21If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master's use, and prepared unto every good work.

Studying the word of God is an essential thing, or else you will not be able to tell what is the truth, thus allowing ungodly influences in your life.

Hymenaeus and Philetus where two men who were preaching that the ressurrection of Jesus Christ already happened, which were causing people to enter into disbelief. Timothy was using these two men as a example as to why you need to study, because you will end up accepting false teachings that will lead you into an ungodly path. He also stated that God will be able to tell the difference between those who are his and those who aren't.

In order to be a vessel of honour, one must name himself a follower of Christ, and study to show Himself approved, so that He will set himself apart from vessels of dishonour!

In short, IGNORANCE IS NOT BLISS.
