Why study the Bible? - John 1, 2 Timothy 2

John 1The Word Became Flesh
1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was with God in the beginning. 3 Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. 4 In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. 5 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome[a] it.
The importance of studying the word of God is not to appear smart, but to know Jesus better and more intimately.

2 Timothy 2:15 (King James Version)15Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
Why?  Because we are the Bride of Christ and when we get to see our groom, do you really want to stare into the face of a stranger?  Or look into the eyes of the groom that you love with all your heart and all that you are?  Timothy was correct, it would be a shame to see Jesus and not even know ANYTHING about who he is and what he's accomplished.

Do you think He will marry a stranger? Nope.  Would you marry a complete stranger?  No.  So it is vital to study and study so you know Jesus in an intimate way.
