The Final Sacrifice - John 3

John 3
4 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up:
15That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.
16For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
17For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
18He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
Do you know why Moses had to make a serpent of brass and put it upon a pole?  According to Numbers 21, the Israelites had turned themselves against God and spoken against Moses.  Thus the Lord sent judgement on them (verse 6 of Numbers 21) in the form of firey serpents.  Can you imagine what those looked like?
Numbers 21
8And the LORD said unto Moses, Make thee a fiery serpent, and set it upon a pole: and it shall come to pass, that every one that is bitten, when he looketh upon it, shall live.
9And Moses made a serpent of brass, and put it upon a pole, and it came to pass, that if a serpent had bitten any man, when he beheld the serpent of brass, he lived.
So when the Israelites and the rest of humanity turn against God once again, He gives us Jesus in exchange for the opportunity to be saved from eternal damnation.  We are not to suffer the same fate as Lucifer.  Have you ever wondered why we were given the opportunity of salvation and not the angels who fell from heaven?

There is one difference between them and us (according to the book on Angels that Billy Gahram wrote) it's because they weren't deceived into sin, like we were.  The angels freely gave away their salvation because they wanted too, not because they were deceived.  They, sitting there in heaven, in front of the Most High God, decide to rebel.

So, now you know why Jesus was sent to save the world, because we were deceived and God, being just gave us another chance.

Ok, now when you sit and memorize John 3:16, don't forget how just our God is and how He gave us Jesus so we could be saved.

When God made us in our image, gave us dominion over the Earth, and then set Adam and Eve up to rule it, the devil was surely thrown for a loop!  Think about it, the God he rebelled against is staring him the face on a daily basis.

So when Adam and Eve were deceived into eating the forbidden fruit, they succumbed to deception and lies.  They surrendered dominion over to Satan.

Are you surprised when Jesus comes to save the world?  When He gave His life on a tree, held up by nails and all the torture he endured.  He endured it so we could have salvation, but also to return our dominion to us.  We couldn't do it alone, we had to have help.

So don't be surprised when you are a Christian taking your authority back and you begin to experience alot of bad things.  It's because you look like God, you have His power, and you're not taking the devil's crap anymore.

Of course He's going to fight you duh!  Now you know the reason why Jesus gave His life for us.

Amen.
